JOB VACANCY
The U.S. Department of the Interior’s (DOI) International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP), with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Development Mission Asia (RDMA), is partnering with the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) to undertake activities that ensure the regional sustainability of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF). The Coral Triangle Center has been identified by RDMA as a key local and regionally focused institution that has built significant capacity to provide sustainable, long-term regional assistance to the six countries within the Coral Triangle (CT-6) to facilitate regional learning and capacity building within the Coral Triangle; with other countries facing similar threats; and with private sector partners to leverage new resources. In order to support these efforts and to increase project efficiency, we are hiring:
IN-COUNTRY COORDINATOR
To assist with day-to-day implementation of program activities. In-Country Coordinator will possess the following qualifications:
An Indonesian national, to be based in Bali—no relocation is provided;
Be verbally proficient in English language;
Have strong demonstrated writing skills in English, particularly in writing reports for U.S. government donor agencies;
Have good interpersonal skills needed to effectively facilitate coordination between DOI, CTC and other project partners and stakeholders;
Preferably be familiar with the Coral Triangle Initiatives as well as South East Asian government marine and environment agencies; and with key personnel and organizations in both the government and non-government sectors;
Be familiar with regional conservation priorities, particularly those that relate to coastal/marine resource management;
Have experience in project planning, management and reporting, particularly U.S. government international natural resource technical assistance projects;
Have experience in coordinating and managing large workshops, forums and/or conferences, preferably in the field of marine conservations and/or tourism topics;
Have experience in coordinating and arranging travel and itineraries;
Have the ability to engage in local and international travel.
The In-Country Coordinator will:
Act as liaison between DOI, CTC, and other project partners, and keep all entities fully appraised of the status of Project activities;
Provide day-to-day oversight and management of Project activities as detailed above;
Assist with short- and long-term Project planning and implementation of all Project activities.
Provide on-site assistance to DOI-ITAP representatives;
Assist in compiling and recording feedback regarding successes and lesson learned from Project activities;
Assist with developing Project outreach tools and collaboration between existing and possible future partners;
Provide ongoing advice to DOI-ITAP and other in-country partners;
Provide weekly and quarterly, and, as directed, other written reports of Project activities;
Review Project activities and provide advice on solving problems that arise during implementation.
The position will be hired for 12-month (twelve) employment contract with a possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance review.
The Coral Triangle Center (CTC) is a foundation based in Indonesia that trains marine resources managers and educates all groups that interact with coastlines and reefs within the Coral Triangle. The applied training and learning programs are adaptive, innovative and customized for different stakeholders to abate threats, address constraints and promote sustainable practices. CTC provides training in marine natural resources management, supports marine protected areas, coordinates a learning network of Marine Protected Area practitioners, connects the public and private sector on coastal issues, and is developing a learning center of excellence in tropical marine conservation.
